Domestic workers in Sector 121, Noida, staged a peaceful protest demanding an increase in their wages and better working conditions. The workers, who work in a high-profile society, gathered outside the building, raising slogans and stating that they will not return to work until their wages are increased.
The workers claimed that their salaries remain low despite the increasing cost of living, leading to a sharp disparity. They also alleged that they are often overworked and not given adequate leave due to the current working conditions in some houses.
Responding to the protest, DCP Shaivya Goyal stated that the situation is under control, and law and order is established. The DCP clarified that the protest was peaceful and not related to factory workers, as some videos had suggested.
The protest comes in the backdrop of large-scale unrest in Noida, where factory workers had torched vehicles and vandalized property in several areas on Monday, triggered by a hike in basic pay announced by the Haryana government.
