The National Testing Agency (NTA) is considering introducing an upper age limit and capping the number of attempts for NEET-UG aspirants, a significant shift from the current system with no restrictions.

The move comes as the agency faces criticism over the recent paper leak, with the CBI investigating the case and 10 accused arrested so far.

NTA has announced plans to implement reforms, including computer-based testing, multi-session and multi-stage testing, and a gradual shift to a digital format.

The agency has also proposed a phased implementation of reforms, with Phase-1 already in place for NEET-UG 2026 and continuing for the June 21 re-exam.

The proposed reforms have drawn mixed reactions, with some experts welcoming the move while others have expressed concerns about the potential impact on rural and economically weaker students.
