In a dramatic turn of events, Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) founder S Ramadoss has issued a stern warning to his son Anbumani, cautioning him against using the party's name, flag, and symbol. The move comes as the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections draw near, and tensions within the party continue to escalate. As per a legal notice published in newspapers, Ramadoss has made it clear that Anbumani has no authority to act on behalf of the PMK. He cannot claim to be the party president or represent the party in any capacity. The notice states that any attempt by Anbumani to project control over the PMK would be an 'illegal political act' aimed at deceiving the public. Meanwhile, Anbumani has expelled MLA and senior party leader GK Mani, a close aide of Ramadoss, amidst the ongoing family feud. Mani, who has been the party president for 25 years, had failed to respond to a letter sent by Anbumani, prompting his expulsion from the primary membership of the party. The Election Commission of India had previously rejected Ramadoss' claims of being the current PMK president, stating that Anbumani is the party's president until August 1, 2026. The PMK has historically swung between the ruling DMK and opposition AIADMK, and the current family feud has left the party's future uncertain. The feud began in December 2024, when Ramadoss appointed his grandson as the PMK youth wing president, prompting Anbumani to object. The situation escalated in August, when Ramadoss accused Anbumani of planting a bugging device under his chair, leading to Anbumani's expulsion from the party in September. As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how the PMK will navigate the complex web of alliances and rivalries in the run-up to the 2026 assembly elections.
