A monkey was found with a steel arrow stuck in its back near Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) in Thane, sparking concerns of a poaching attempt.

The injured monkey was rescued by the NGO Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW) and is currently in a critical condition after undergoing surgery.

Environmentalists believe the type of arrow used suggests a professional archer was involved, raising concerns about illegal establishments operating within the protected forest area.

A meeting has been convened to address the issue and formulate a plan to take action against illegally operating establishments within the Yeoor Eco-Sensitive Zone.
