A popular Bihu dancer was killed and 11 members of her troupe were injured in a head-on collision between a mini bus and a trailer truck in Assam's Tamulpur district.
The deceased, 25-year-old Nishamoni Haloi, was traveling with the troupe for a Bihu performance when the accident happened on Friday night.
About 30 people were in the vehicle, including female dancers, male 'dhulias' and other artistes.
The seriously injured have been sent to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital, while the rest are undergoing treatment at the local hospital.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma condoled the death, saying Nishamoni's death was a loss of a rising artiste.
