Prasoon Joshi Takes Helm at Prasar Bharati as Chairman

Noted lyricist and writer Prasoon Joshi has been appointed the chairman of Prasar Bharati, India’s public service broadcaster, the ministry of information and broadcasting announced. Joshi has made significant contributions across literature, advertising, cinema, and public communication.

Congratulating Joshi on his appointment, union minister for information and broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said he was a “rare creative spirit” who would bring renewed energy and purpose to Prasar Bharati.

Joshi has a diverse body of work spanning acclaimed film lyrics, advertising campaigns, and socially resonant storytelling that connects with diverse audiences across the country.

He has also served as the chairperson for the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), Mumbai since August 2017, strengthening film certification processes and engaging with stakeholders across the film industry.
