Puducherry registered a record 89.87% polling percentage in the Assembly elections, the highest since 1964. The voting process was largely peaceful, with a minor incident reported at Tirukanoor village.

Actor-politician Vijay's TVK and actor-director Seeman's NTK were among the key parties vying for power in the union territory.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy faced a challenge from Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee president V Vaithilingam in the Thattanchavady constituency.

The election saw a high voter turnout, with 5,000 officials and 2,800 police personnel deployed to ensure smooth polling.

Women voters outnumbered men, with 5.03 lakh women voters compared to 4.46 lakh men.
