Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann marked the martyrdom anniversary of freedom fighter Kartar Singh Sarabha by paying floral tributes and announcing a major facelift for his native village in Ludhiana district. To honor the young hero of the Ghadar Movement, Mann pledged to invest over ₹45 crore in developing the village's infrastructure, providing clean drinking water, sports facilities, and defense training. This ambitious project aims to transform the village into a model community. The Chief Minister visited the ancestral home of Kartar Singh, who was executed at the age of 19 in Lahore Central Jail in 1915. Mann expressed his admiration for the young martyr's selfless service to the nation and encouraged people to participate in the commemorative events at Anandpur Sahib from November 23-25, marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur. As part of the development project, ₹40 crore will be allocated for upgrading the two-lane road from Lalto Kalan to Sarabha, Raikot, and Halwara into a four-lane stretch, directly connecting it to the Halwara airport near Ludhiana. Other initiatives include a ₹2.82 crore surface water supply scheme, a ₹2 crore indoor shooting range, and ₹10 lakh for renovating a basketball court, among others. The project also includes the upgradation of a forest nursery at a cost of ₹89 lakh.
