Punjab's assembly witnessed a dramatic day with the Opposition demanding an alcohol test for Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and a unanimous motion being passed expressing confidence in the CM-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

The motion was brought by the Mann government after six Rajya Sabha MPs from Punjab switched to the BJP, with the seventh being Swati Maliwal from Delhi.

CM Mann said, 'A few rumours have created some confusion among the general public. This Confidence Motion has been brought to clear all that confusion.'

The opposition, including the Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), boycotted the motion, alleging that Bhagwant Mann attended the session in an 'inebriated' state.

Mann will bring a copy of the confidence motion passed by the assembly along with him when he meets the President of India on May 5.
