Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann criticized the decision of seven Aam Aadmi Party MPs to switch to the Bharatiya Janata Party, stating that they 'cannot do as they please'. Mann met with President Droupadi Murmu to demand the termination of the MPs' membership.

Mann argued that the MPs should have submitted their resignations before joining another party, and that their decision was unconstitutional.

Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, one of the MPs who switched parties, accused the AAP-led Punjab government of indulging in 'vendetta politics' and misusing the state machinery.

The BJP's strength in the Rajya Sabha has increased to 113 seats following the merger, while the AAP's seats have been reduced to three.
