The Ferozepur district administration in Punjab has postponed the Rath Yatra planned for May 23 after the Puri Jagannath Temple officials protested against holding the festival on random dates.
The Puri temple authorities had written to the Ferozepur District Magistrate, requesting her to prevent the temple in her jurisdiction from holding the Rath Yatra on May 23.
Responding to the temple's letter, the Ferozepur district magistrate said the temple administrators have provided their written consent to postpone the Rath Yatra.
The Rath Yatra will now be conducted on July 16 as per the calendar.
