Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has hailed the results of the Assembly elections in Kerala, saying the state has 'talent' and 'potential.'

According to the Election Commission of India, the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has won or is leading on around 87 seats, with the Congress itself leading on or having won 63 seats.

Rahul Gandhi thanked the people of Kerala for the mandate favouring the UDF and congratulated the alliance workers and leaders.

He said a government formed by the UDF can harness Kerala's 'talent' and 'potential', adding that he looks forward to seeing his 'Keralam family' soon.

Meanwhile, the Congress thanked the people of Kerala for the victory but said results in other states had fallen short of its expectations.

The party said it would not be disheartened and continue to fight for its ideology, with Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh stating that the path of democracy and truth is 'long and arduous' but the party will continue to forge ahead with unwavering resolve.
