A convoy carrying former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was stopped by cow vigilantes affiliated with Bajrang Dal on the Kota-Udaipur highway on Sunday. The vigilantes, protesting the improper disposal of cow carcasses by municipal authorities, blocked the convoy for nearly 20 minutes, causing a traffic jam. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Manish Sharma, Raje's convoy was heading to Jaipur from Jhalawar when it was halted at Hanging Bridge. The former chief minister directed district officials to address the issue, which has been a point of contention for the past few weeks. Cow vigilantes and Bajrang Dal activists had taken out a march earlier in the day, demanding proper and respectful disposal of bovine carcasses in the city. They alleged that contractors from the Kota Municipal Corporation were dumping the carcasses in an open area. KMC Commissioner OP Mehara refuted these allegations, stating that the concerned contractors had been directed to ensure proper disposal of carcasses. He claimed that a similar issue had been resolved 25 days ago, with contractors being instructed to dispose of animal carcasses, including bovines, respectfully. An investigation into the highway blockage is underway. Bajrang Dal's Yogesh Rainwal said that the vigilantes were angry over the mismanagement of bovine carcass disposal and had organized the march when they heard that Raje's convoy was approaching the route.
