The Rajya Sabha observed a moment of silence to honor the memories of former members Mukul Roy, Janardhan Waghmare, and H K Dua, who passed away recently.

Chairman C P Radhakrishnan read out obituary references for the departed members, urging the House to rise in their places and observe silence as a mark of respect.

Mukul Roy, who passed away on February 23, 2026, at the age of 71, served as a Member of the Rajya Sabha representing West Bengal for two terms and held various ministerial positions.

Janardhan Waghmare, who passed away on March 2, 2026, at the age of 91, was an eminent educationist, social reformer, and prolific writer who authored several books in Marathi, Hindi, and English.

H K Dua, who passed away on March 4, 2026, at the age of 88, was an eminent journalist and political commentator who served as Press Adviser to two prime ministers and Ambassador of India to Denmark.
