Rohini Acharya, daughter of Lalu Prasad Yadav and sister of Tejashwi Yadav, stunned the political world by announcing her decision to quit politics and cut ties with her family in the wake of the RJD's disappointing performance in the Bihar assembly election. In a series of explosive social media posts, Acharya alleged that RJD MP Sanjay Yadav and Tejashwi's close friend Rameez Nemat Khan had orchestrated her downfall, subjecting her to physical and verbal abuse. Acharya's mention of Rameez Nemat Khan, a long-time friend of Tejashwi Yadav, raised eyebrows. Khan, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, has been a key member of Tejashwi's inner circle since their cricketing days. His wife, Zeba Rizwan, has also been involved in local politics, contesting elections in the Tulsipur assembly seat. However, Khan's reputation is marred by a string of controversies. He faces multiple criminal cases, including allegations of attacking a Congress leader in 2021 and conspiracy in the murder of a Tulsipur Nagar Panchayat president in 2022. Khan was also accused in the 2023 murder of a Pratapgarh contractor and had land worth ₹4.75 crore seized by the UP government in 2023. In July 2024, Khan was arrested under the Gangsters Act, but was granted bail in April 2025. The couple later moved the Supreme Court, which directed authorities to seek permission from the local court before arresting them or initiating new proceedings. Since then, they have received relief in several cases and no fresh FIRs have been filed. Rohini Acharya's decision to quit politics and cut ties with her family has sparked speculation about her unhappiness with the RJD chief's decision to expel her brother Tej Pratap Yadav from the party in May this year. The move had been seen as a significant blow to Tej Pratap's reputation, and it remains to be seen how this latest development will impact the RJD's future.
