The Election Commission has ordered a repoll at 15 polling stations in South 24 Parganas district in West Bengal, following allegations of EVM tampering during the second phase of the West Bengal assembly election.

The repoll will be held on Saturday, May 2, from 7 AM to 6 PM, at 11 polling stations in the 142-Magrahat Paschim assembly constituency and 4 polling stations in the 143-Diamond Harbour assembly constituency.

The decision was taken after the EC received complaints of buttons on electronic voting machines being marked with black tape, adhesive substances, ink, and even perfume.

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has reacted to the repolling, saying it should have been conducted in more booths.
