New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale has urged young women to actively participate in the student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activities.

Hosabale made the appeal while addressing a special recitation programme organised by the ABVP's Delhi unit to mark the birth centenary year of ABVP ideologue and organisational thinker Yashwantrao Kelkar.

Kelkar played a key role in building the ideology and organisational structure of the student body, and Hosabale noted that he strongly advocated women's participation and full-time involvement of girl students in student organisations.

The RSS leader praised Kelkar for developing the 'philosophy of a student movement' and explained the ideological basis and thought process of such an organisation.

Kelkar is credited with shaping the organisation's ideological framework and stressing constructive social work alongside student activism.

Hosabale said Kelkar never imposed his views on others and instead presented his ideas as suggestions, built consensus, and imbibed the spirit of teamwork throughout his life.

The RSS leader also praised the recitation programme, saying it gave workers an opportunity to understand Kelkar's personality and organisational thinking.
