A Special Investigation Team (SIT) in Thiruvananthapuram grilled former Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) secretary S Jayasree on Thursday in connection with the investigation into the misappropriation of gold assets at the Sabarimala temple. Jayasree, the fourth accused in the case, was accompanied by her family members during the questioning. She was granted interim protection from arrest by the Supreme Court in December 2025 on health grounds, citing a kidney-related ailment. Jayasree served as the TDB secretary from July 2017 to December 2019 and later as Thiruvabharana Commissioner until her retirement in May 2020. According to officials, Jayasree had signed an order directing the handover of gold plates to key accused Unnikrishnan Potty in 2019 for 'renovation.' She claims the order was given on the board's direction and that she didn't take any independent decision. The SIT has been given additional time to probe the case, and so far, 10 individuals have been arrested. The high court has granted the team an extension of six weeks to investigate the two cases filed in connection with the gold theft. The investigation into the high-profile case continues.
