In a significant development, the proposed strike by employees of the Saket court in New Delhi has been called off following a meeting with Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya. The strike was triggered by the tragic suicide of Harish Singh Mahar, an Ahlmad who worked in the court's digital section, allegedly due to excessive work pressure. Mahar, who suffered from a 60% disability, left behind a suicide note citing unbearable work pressure and mental distress as the reasons behind his extreme step. The court staff had announced their intention to boycott Lok Adalat proceedings to protest Mahar's death, but after a two-hour meeting with the Chief Justice, they have agreed to resume their duties. In a circular issued by the District and Sessions Courts Employees Welfare Association, it was stated that the Chief Justice had passed necessary directions concerning the protesters' demands, including the recruitment of more court staff to ease work pressure. The employees have welcomed the decision and have requested all members to join their duties as desired.
