New Delhi, The Supreme Court has refused to entertain a PIL seeking protection, audit, and regulation of Sikh religious and heritage properties across the country.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi directed petitioner Charanjeet Singh to raise his grievances before the Parliamentary Petitions Committee.
The PIL sought a sweeping overhaul of how Sikh religious and heritage properties are managed, including the constitution of a National Khalsayi Sikh Heritage Protection Authority and a special audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India.
The court granted the petitioner the liberty to return to the Supreme Court if he remains dissatisfied with the parliamentary response.
