This vision was shared at the 3rd and final meeting of the high-level task force (HLTF) on promoting sports in the region via video conferencing. The meeting, co-chaired by Scindia and Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, aimed to lay the groundwork for the region's emergence as India's hub of high-performance sporting excellence. Key areas of focus included high-quality coaching, talent identification, and technology-enabled training, complemented by infrastructure development. Attendees included Union Minister Raksha Nikhil Khadse, Secretary Hariranjan Rao, and sports ministers from Meghalaya and Mizoram, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and the north-eastern states. The meeting highlighted the importance of a coordinated framework to strengthen talent pathways and high-performance systems. States were encouraged to prioritize their disciplines and prepare comprehensive proposals, reflecting their strengths and long-term potential. The shared commitment is to advance the sports landscape of the north east through coordinated planning, evidence-based strategies, and close Centre-state collaboration.
