Senior MCD Official Arrested in ₹4 Lakh Bribery Sting

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a senior MCD official in connection with a ₹4 lakh bribery case.

The arrested officer, Lt Col Abhishek Kumar Mishra, is the Deputy Commissioner of Shahdara North, MCD.

According to officials, the CBI received information about Mishra's demand for a bribe and laid a trap to catch him red-handed.

The agency also arrested accounts officer Divyanshu Gautam, who allegedly demanded the bribe from a License Inspector.

Meanwhile, a special CBI court in Maharashtra's Thane has sentenced a former Income Tax officer to six months' rigorous imprisonment in a 19-year-old bribery case.

The officer, Deenanath Krishna Puthran, was accused of taking a bribe of ₹20,000 from a person to finalise a tax security assessment.
