Shah Directs Security Forces to Sustain Gains Against Terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday directed security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir to remain vigilant and work in tandem to ensure the region remains 'terror-free.' The directive came during a high-level review meeting in Delhi, which included senior officials from J&K and central police forces. The meeting, held ahead of Republic Day celebrations, aimed to assess the progress made in combating terrorism in the region. According to officials, the security forces have been intensifying their hunt for terrorists in mountainous regions and jungles, while also monitoring the infiltration of terrorists from across the border. Speaking at the meeting, Shah emphasized the government's commitment to establishing lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir and eliminating terrorism. He noted that the 'terror ecosystem in J&K has been crippled' due to sustained efforts by the government. The Home Minister also stressed the need to continue Counter Terror (CT) operations targeting terrorist infrastructure and financing. This comes as the Border Security Force (BSF) in Jammu has recently flagged the re-emergence of Jaish-e-Mohammed terror launch pads across the international border in Pakistan. The government's efforts to curb terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir have been ongoing, with a significant milestone achieved during Operation Sindoor in May last year. The operation targeted terror and military installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, bringing the region to the brink of war. Shah's directive to security forces aims to sustain the gains made and ensure the region remains 'terror-free' sooner rather than later.
