A Delhi court has granted bail to six protesters arrested during the recent India Gate agitation. The court found that the protesters, who allegedly raised slogans in support of slain Maoist commander Madvi Hidma, were not required for further investigation. The court, led by Additional Sessions Judge Amit Bansal, ruled that the protesters had already spent a month in custody and posed no threat to the investigation or witnesses. The judge also noted that the protesters were not members of the banned Maoist student organization, the Radical Student Union. The six accused - Ilakkiya, Ayisha Wafiya, Ravjot Kaur, Gurkirat Kaur, Abhinash Satyapathi, and Kranti - were granted bail on condition that they furnish a ₹50,000 bail bond and surety bond each. They were also ordered to stay in India, not tamper with evidence, and join the investigation when required. The court's decision comes after the police arrested 23 protesters in two separate cases lodged at the Parliament Street and Kartavya Path police stations. The protesters were accused of obstructing traffic, blocking police officials, and raising slogans unrelated to pollution during the protest. The court's order noted that the protesters were affiliated with the Students' Federation of India, Bhagat Singh Chhatra Ekta Manch, and Himkhand, which were not banned organizations. The protesters were released on bail pending the filing of charges by the police.
