Sonia Gandhi, senior Congress leader, is stable and being checked by doctors for possible infection in the stomach and urinary tract, said Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in a statement on Wednesday.
She was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday at 10:22 pm after experiencing respiratory issues, which were found to be exacerbated by the cold weather and pollution levels in Delhi.
A team of doctors is closely monitoring her condition, and antibiotics have been administered as a precautionary measure.
This is not the first time Gandhi has been admitted to the hospital, as she was also admitted last year in June due to stomach-related issues.
Rahul Gandhi, her son and Congress MP, has cancelled his scheduled official visit to Kerala due to her health concerns.
