The Supreme Court will hear the Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) appeal on December 29, challenging the Delhi High Court's decision to suspend the life sentence of expelled BJP leader Kuldeep Singh Sengar. Sengar was convicted in 2019 for the Unnao rape case and sentenced to life imprisonment. Despite being granted bail, he remains in jail due to a separate 10-year sentence for murder. In a new development, the Unnao rape victim and her mother met with CBI officials in Delhi, accusing the investigating officer of colluding with a judge to ensure the accused's victory. The victim submitted a complaint alleging serious misconduct by the IO, claiming that he acted against her interests. The victim's mother expressed trust in the Supreme Court, stating that their faith in the CBI will depend on whether the agency stands by them during legal proceedings. The CBI had filed a Special Leave Petition on Friday, challenging the Delhi High Court's order that suspended Sengar's life sentence pending appeal and granted him bail.
