Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has sparked a heated debate over the Centre's three-language formula under the National Education Policy (NEP). Stalin claims the policy aims to impose Hindi on the people of Tamil Nadu and vows not to implement it as long as the DMK is in power.

Stalin's remarks come after Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan defended the three-language formula, stating it does not mandate Hindi as one of the languages. However, Stalin dismissed Pradhan's claim as 'plainly dishonest', arguing that linking crucial education funding to policy compliance removes any real element of choice.

The Tamil Nadu CM also accused the Centre of withholding funds under the Samagra Shiksha scheme over the state's refusal to accept the three-language formula. Stalin claimed the Centre is 'punishing' the state by withholding ₹2,200 crore in funds.

Pradhan hit back at Stalin, stating he was trying to create fear among the people of Tamil Nadu. The Union Minister emphasized that the NEP does not mandate Hindi and that students can choose another Indian language in addition to their mother tongue.
