The Election Commission of India has begun counting votes for the Tamil Nadu Assembly, with results pouring in throughout the day. The DMK-Congress alliance, led by CM MK Stalin, is looking to retain power, while the AIADMK-BJP camp aims to take control.
The magic number to form a government is 118 out of 234 total seats. The DMK-led alliance is contesting 164 constituencies, with Congress in 28 seats. The AIADMK is contesting 167 seats, BJP on 27, PMK on 18, and AMMK on 11.
Early leads show DR. MUTHIAH. S (AIADMK) in Paramakudi with 11978 votes, M.KEERTHIKA (AIADMK) in Tiruvadanai with 8129 votes, R.S.RAJAKANNAPPAN (DMK) in Mudhukulathur with 17683 votes, and KATHARBATCHA MUTHURAMALINGAM (DMK) in Ramanathapuram with 32349 votes.
