The Travancore Devaswom Board (TDB) has decided to file an affidavit in the Supreme Court to preserve existing traditions related to women's entry at the Sabarimala Temple.

The decision was taken at a board meeting, and the affidavit will be filed before the court considers petitions related to the entry of women of menstruating age at the hill shrine.

TDB president K Jayakumar said the board has no difference of opinion on this issue and will contest the Supreme Court's 2018 verdict permitting the entry of women of menstrual age at the temple.

The existing tradition at Sabarimala restricts the entry of women of menstruating age at the Lord Ayyappa temple, and the board's stand is that this tradition should continue.

The TDB has also announced reforms, including the introduction of a modern tendering system for commercial spaces, a scientific waste-disposal system, and a detailed protocol for sanitation.

The board will also review sponsorship guidelines and limit the number of daily-wage workers during the Sabarimala pilgrimage season.
