The Telangana Drugs Control Administration has issued an urgent stop-use notice for Almont-Kid Syrup, a common treatment for allergies, hay fever, and asthma in children. The move comes after a laboratory report allegedly found the syrup adulterated with Ethylene Glycol, a highly toxic substance. According to a notification from the DCA, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) East Zone in Kolkata had alerted the agency about the adulteration. As a result, all Drugs Inspectors and Assistant Directors in Telangana have been instructed to inform retailers, wholesalers, distributors, and hospitals to immediately freeze stocks of the affected product and prevent its sale. The public is advised to stop using the syrup, which was manufactured by Tridus Remedies in Bihar, and report any possession to the nearest Drugs Control Authority. The Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, has initiated enforcement measures and is monitoring the situation to prevent further health risks. The public is urged to exercise caution and avoid using the syrup to prevent potential health hazards associated with Ethylene Glycol toxicity. Those who have the syrup in their possession can report it by calling the Drugs Control Administration's toll-free number. The affected product batch is identified as AL-24002. The administration is taking necessary steps to ensure public safety and prevent any potential harm from the toxic substance.
