Reddy, 56, has been practicing tirelessly at the Marri Channa Reddy Institute of Human Resources Development grounds, along with a team of young footballers from government schools in the state. The event is part of the grand finale of the Telangana Rising Global Summit, a state government initiative to showcase the state's potential as a global investment destination. Reddy will lead his team, RR9, against Messi's team, LM10, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on December 13. The exhibition match has a symbolic dimension, as it provides a platform for young footballers from Telangana to play alongside their chief minister and face one of the world's greatest footballers. For many of these students, it is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Reddy, an avid football player in his younger days, has chosen to invite Messi to Hyderabad to give a boost to Brand Hyderabad. The Argentine football superstar has confirmed his participation in the exhibition match, which is part of his 'GOAT Tour to India 2025'. Messi will visit Hyderabad after the Kolkata leg of his tour and will then proceed to Mumbai and New Delhi, where he is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Apart from the football match, there will be a grand cultural extravaganza at the venue, featuring celebrities from Tollywood and Bollywood, as well as various sports personalities.
