Hyderabad, The Telangana government has trained 20 tribal youth from former Left Wing Extremism-hit areas as professional tourist guides.

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy appointed them as 'Giri Darshaks' under the initiative to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities.

The 'Giri Darshaks' initiative promotes community participation in eco-tourism and pilgrimage activities to foster sustainable regional development.

The trained youth will be deployed on a rotational basis across heritage, eco-tourism, and pilgrimage circuits to facilitate tourist movement.

The initiative aims to strengthen community-police trust and position Mulugu and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts as models for tourism-led inclusive development.
