Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has responded to criticism over his praise for BJP veteran LK Advani, arguing that the former minister's long career should not be judged by a single event. In a statement on social media, Tharoor pointed to the examples of Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, saying their legacies cannot be defined by a single setback or controversy. He claimed that Advani's 'unwavering commitment to public service' and his role in shaping modern India's trajectory are 'indelible'. Tharoor's comments come after a lawyer criticized Advani's role in the Rath Yatra, which led to the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya. However, Tharoor defended Advani, saying that a person's entire career should be considered, not just a single episode. This is not the first time Tharoor has sparked controversy with his comments on the Nehru-Gandhi family, which he has described as an example of dynastic politics. The BJP has praised Tharoor's article, calling it a 'truth bomb'.
