Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee questioned the timing of party colleague Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar's complaint of verbal abuse inside the Lok Sabha.

Banerjee alleged that Dastidar's complaint was driven by 'motive' and should have been reported immediately to the Lok Sabha Speaker.

Dastidar had written to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seeking permission to file a formal complaint against Banerjee, accusing him of repeatedly verbally abusing her inside Parliament.

She called the alleged behaviour 'misogynistic' and said it extended beyond her individual case, affecting many lady members.

Banerjee responded by saying that any incident on the floor of the House must be immediately reported to the Speaker, and questioned who said what and when.
