Polling for 142 of 294 West Bengal assembly seats concluded peacefully on Wednesday, with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accusing observers from other states of targeting Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders and workers.
Banerjee visited her Bhabanipur constituency and alleged that TMC posters were being torn, while central forces allegedly snatched a municipal councillor's mobile phone and threatened him.
The second and last phase of the West Bengal assembly elections recorded an average voter turnout of 18.39% until 9am, with Purba Bardhaman registering the highest turnout at 20.86% and Kolkata South the lowest at 16.81%.
Clashes broke out between TMC and BJP supporters in Nadia and Hooghly, while a BJP camp office was allegedly ransacked in Nadia.
The results of the elections will be announced on May 4, with the TMC's Mamata Banerjee contesting against BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari in Bhabanipur.
