Tamil Nadu Minister S Keerthana was unable to take her oath of office as MLA in the State Assembly on Monday due to a missing Certificate of Election.

When Principal Secretary K Srinivasan asked her for the certificate, she was unable to produce it, and was subsequently denied the opportunity to take the oath.

This is not the only instance of a missing certificate, as another MLA, R Kumar, was also stopped from taking the oath after it was discovered that he had submitted a certificate belonging to a colleague.

However, Kumar was eventually allowed to take the oath after producing his own certificate.

Keerthana was the last minister to be invited to take the oath, and her failure to do so has raised questions about the importance of having the necessary documents in place.
