Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has stressed the significance of planting trees in protecting the environment and ensuring a sustainable future. He made these remarks while addressing the Vriksh Mitra Programme and Paryavaran Sanrakshan Sankalp event in New Delhi.
Mr Chouhan highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken several key initiatives to tackle the climate crisis. He mentioned that there has been a significant increase in renewable energy capacity in the country. This is a major step towards reducing our reliance on fossil fuels and mitigating the impact of climate change.
The Minister also mentioned initiatives like Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign and Mission LiFE to protect and preserve the environment. These campaigns aim to promote sustainable living and encourage individuals to take responsibility for their carbon footprint.
Mr Chouhan said that India has set a target of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. This is a bold move towards reducing our carbon footprint and creating a more sustainable future for generations to come.
