A UPSC candidate from Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr, Shikha Gautam, celebrated her 'success' in the civil services exam, but it turned out to be a case of mistaken identity.
She had checked her result in a hurry and forgot to verify her roll number, leading to a massive local celebration with 1,200 people.
The media had also picked up her 'success story', portraying her as a daughter of a peon who cracked one of the toughest exams in the world.
However, Shikha Gautam later apologised for the confusion, admitting that she only saw 'Shikha' mentioned on the result PDF, not the roll number.
This is not the first case of mistaken identity to come to light in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025 final result.
