The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has advised civil services candidates to avoid social media posts that could be misinterpreted or appear self-promotional.

According to officials, this year's advisory is more detailed, focusing on the judicious use of social media and advising candidates against engaging in commercial or institutional endorsements.

The advisory comes after the UPSC announced the results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025, recommending 958 candidates for appointment to various services.

The Commission has received complaints over the past year about officers using social media for self-promotion and branding, and has written to state governments in such cases, blocking the accounts.

The advisory states that candidates should maintain professional distance from commercial/institutional endorsements and ensure their achievements are not used for private gain or publicity.
