US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has stated that India's concerns with Pakistan are different from Islamabad's role as a mediator in the US-Iran conflict.
Rubio, who is on a four-day visit to India, said that while India is always concerned about the presence of armed terrorist groups operating from Pakistani territory, it has not raised objections to Pakistan's role as a mediator.
Rubio's comments came during a joint news conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where he described India as 'one of the US' most important strategic partners' and a 'leading trade partner'.
India has been concerned about Pakistan's role in facilitating a ceasefire between the US and Iran, with Islamabad emerging as a key negotiator in the conflict.
Rubio's visit to India includes a meeting with the Quad foreign ministers, where the Indo-Pacific region is expected to be a key focus.
