The US is eager to finalize a proposed bilateral trade agreement with India, which will enhance market access, reduce barriers, and provide greater certainty for businesses, said US Ambassador Sergio Gor.

The envoy stated that the trade deal will strengthen supply chains, drive sustained inclusive growth, and encourage new investments.

Gor was speaking at an event hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce.

He emphasized that President Donald Trump's goal is to facilitate bilateral trade that creates lucrative opportunities for American businesses and workers.

The ambassador noted that India's expanding manufacturing ecosystem, digital infrastructure, innovation capabilities, and skilled talent pool complement the American leadership in technology, investment, advanced research, and entrepreneurship.

Gor expressed confidence that the India-US trade deal could be finalized within one-and-half years of starting negotiations.

The shared ambition of the US and India to achieve $500 billion in bilateral trade by 2030 reflects the confidence and connect between the two economies.
