Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has accused the Uttar Pradesh government and Kanpur police of failing to protect a minor girl who was allegedly raped in the Sachendi area. Yadav targeted the Kanpur ADG, describing him as part of the 'scrap mafia' and criticizing the police for their handling of the case. He also brought up previous incidents, including a case in Sonbhadra where seven lives were lost, and accused the police of exerting pressure to prevent FIRs from being registered. The Kanpur Police Commissioner has confirmed that raids are underway to arrest a police sub-inspector who is suspected of involvement in the crime. The sub-inspector's name surfaced during the investigation, which has identified two suspects, one of whom has been apprehended. The police have suspended the Station House Officer for lapses in handling the case and have initiated proceedings to dismiss the absconding sub-inspector from service. The opposition has expressed outrage over the incident and demanded strict punishment for all those involved.
