KC Tyagi, a veteran JD(U) leader, has joined the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) just days after quitting the party. Tyagi, a founding member of Nitish Kumar's party, resigned from JD(U) on March 17 without specifying any reason.

In a statement to PTI, Tyagi said that there is no difference between JD(U) and RLD, citing their shared ideals of Chaudhary Charan Singh, Karpoori Thakur, and Ram Manohar Lohia.

Tyagi, a former Rajya Sabha MP, had earlier resigned as JD(U)'s national chief spokesperson in September 2024. He has been associated with the party since its inception in 2003 and has held various positions, including chief general secretary and chief spokesperson.

Tyagi's move comes as Nitish Kumar is set to resign as Bihar chief minister, ending his two-decade run as CM. The NDA has not yet announced Nitish's successor to lead the state government.
