Former Manipur minister and ex-MLA AS Arthur passed away in New Delhi at the age of 99 after a prolonged illness. He is survived by three sons and four daughters.
Arthur, first elected in 1984, served as minister for forest & environment and general administration during Rishang Keishing's chief ministership in 1995.
Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh and Manipur legislative assembly speaker Thokchom Satyabrata Singh expressed deep grief over Arthur's demise.
Khatingla Keishing, wife of former chief minister Rishang Keishing, also passed away in Imphal at 96 years old.
