Chennai: Due to unforeseen circumstances, the release of Vijay's highly anticipated film Jana Nayagan has been put on hold. The decision comes after the Madras High Court reserved its judgment on a petition filed by the film's producers against the Central Board of Film Certification's (CBFC) delay in issuing a censor certificate. The film's producers, KVN Productions LLP, announced the postponement in a recent social media post, attributing it to factors beyond their control. They expressed their understanding of the strong anticipation surrounding the film, which was initially set to release on January 9. However, the CBFC's decision to reopen the certification process, despite an earlier clearance from the Examining Committee, has raised questions. The court observed that the Board's actions may have been influenced by a single complaint, despite the producers addressing all earlier objections. The Examining Committee had suggested certain cuts and muted words, which were implemented by the producers. Nevertheless, the CBFC withheld the certificate, leading to the current impasse. The court is now waiting for a verdict, with the new release date for Jana Nayagan yet to be announced.
