Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has assured that the state government will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the poor and needy are protected from the severe cold wave sweeping North India. As part of this effort, the government has released funds to all districts to distribute blankets, operate night shelters, and organize bonfires. During a visit to Gorakhpur, Adityanath inspected two night shelters and interacted with the residents, praising the district administrations for providing necessary facilities such as beds, blankets, cleanliness, and food. He also directed the district magistrates to close schools and declare holidays if required, with provisions for online classes if necessary. The Chief Minister expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and personally distributed blankets and food to the homeless, assuring them of the government's continued support. Public representatives and officials are engaged in distributing blankets and woollens, lighting bonfires, and ensuring the smooth functioning of night shelters. Adityanath appealed to the public to extend help to the needy during this harsh weather and advised citizens to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel in foggy conditions, and maintain adequate hydration even during winter. As part of the government's winter relief drive, over 22,000 needy persons have already received blankets and woollen clothes, while 480 bonfires have been arranged across Gorakhpur city.
