Australian tennis coach Todd Clark, who has spent nearly two decades in India, has praised the Khelo India initiative for providing a sense of purpose to teenagers. Clark, who is currently working at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology in Odisha, believes that the program has successfully channelled the energy of bored teenagers into sports. This, he says, not only promotes health and wellness among the youth but also boosts infrastructure development. Clark, who was part of the Indian contingent at the 2025 Summer World University Games in Germany, where Vaishnavi Adkar won a historic bronze medal, feels that India has immense potential in tennis. However, he suggests that talent identification and counselling could be improved to help young athletes pick the right sport. According to Clark, a player's height is a significant factor in determining their potential in tennis, making it essential for coaches and authorities to guide them in the right direction.
