In a thrilling Africa Cup of Nations match, 19-year-old Christian Kofane made a spectacular debut for Cameroon, scoring a game-winning goal in the 55th minute. The Bayer Leverkusen starlet's rocket-like effort from the edge of the area sealed a 2-1 victory for the Indomitable Lions over Mozambique at the Grand Stade d'Agadir in Morocco. Kofane, who turned down earlier call-ups to focus on his first Bundesliga season, was making only his second appearance for Cameroon. The young forward had been given permission to stay with Leverkusen until the eve of the tournament. Mozambique had taken an early lead in the 23rd minute through Sporting Lisbon striker Geny Catamo's powerful low strike. However, Cameroon levelled the score just five minutes later, thanks to a bizarre own goal by Mozambican defender Nene. The fullback deflected a shot from Frank Magri onto the post, and as the ball rebounded, he tried to clear it but inadvertently scored an own goal. The win marks Cameroon's second-place finish in Group F, with six points. They will next face South Africa in Rabat on Sunday. Mozambique, on the other hand, secured a spot in the knockout stages as one of the best third-placed finishers and will face Nigeria in Fes on Monday.
