The Washington Commanders have bolstered their roster by signing quarterback Jeff Driskel from the Arizona Cardinals' practice squad. This move comes as the team faces significant injuries to its top backup quarterback, Marcus Mariota, and starting right guard, Sam Cosmi. Mariota suffered injuries to his hand and leg during Saturday's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, and Cosmi is sidelined with a concussion. The Commanders have also placed defensive tackle Eddie Goldman and rookie return specialist Jaylin Lane on injured reserve due to concussions and an ankle injury, respectively. To address these losses, the team has claimed receiver Jamal Agnew off waivers from Atlanta and defensive tackle Shy Tuttle from Tennessee. As the Commanders prepare to host the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, they face a challenge in their depth at quarterback. With Mariota's status uncertain, the team will rely on Driskel, who has experience in 25 NFL games, including a stint with the Commanders last season. The team also has quarterback Sam Hartman on its roster. Commanders coach Dan Quinn expressed cautious optimism about the team's options at quarterback, saying, 'It does help knowing that there's some history' with Driskel. The team will need to make the most of their available options as they face a tough test against the Cowboys, who are also eliminated from playoff contention.
