Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels expressed his disappointment and frustration over the injuries that limited him to just seven games this season. The 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year called the setbacks 'freak accidents' and acknowledged that he wasn't thrilled with the decision to hold him back from playing. Daniels suffered a series of injuries, including a sprained left knee, a bad right hamstring, and a dislocated left elbow that kept him sidelined for over two months. Although he returned to the field on December 7 against the Minnesota Vikings, he aggravated the elbow injury, leading the team to sit him out for the remainder of the season. The Commanders have since moved on, with quarterback Marcus Mariota leading the team to a 29-21 victory over the New York Giants. Mariota will continue to start under center for the team's final three games of the season. Daniels, who had a standout rookie season, completing 69% of his passes for 3,568 yards with 25 touchdowns and nine interceptions, is now focused on recovering and preparing for next year. When asked if there's anything he can do to avoid similar injuries in the future, Daniels said that some setbacks are simply unavoidable. The Commanders are also dealing with injuries to other players, including wide receiver Noah Brown, who has been placed on injured reserve with a rib injury. As the team looks to the future, they'll be relying on players like Mariota to lead them through the final stretch of the season. Meanwhile, Daniels is taking the opportunity to focus on his health and prepare for a strong comeback next year.
